Citizen’s Garden and the Otauw Mokho Farmers Group, Papua

goodmorningpapua.com – The Otauw Mokho Farmer’s Group in Kampung Sereh, Sentani District, Jayapura Regency provides fresh vegetables in support of the VI Congress of the Indigenous Peoples Alliance of the Archipelago (KMAN) VI.

A head of the Otauw Mokho Farmers Group, Yosfina Ondikleuw, explained that the one-hectare land has been ready for planting and has been tilled since early September.

The land is planted with 3 types of vegetables that have a short harvest period, such as spinach, kale and mustard greens.

Yosfina explained that the Otauw Mokho Farmers’ Group mostly consisted of women. The number is 20 people.

“Each member of the farmer group also has their own land around the yard,” he explained, Thursday, September 15, 2022.

To support the planting period, vegetable seeds have been distributed to each member of the farmer group, so that the yard of his house can also be used for planting.

“The head of Kampung Sereh also helps in providing seeds and farming equipment,” said Mama Yosfina.

He hopes that the vegetables from the Otauw Mokho Farmer Group’s Garden can be useful for guests attending KMAN VI in Tanah Tabi which will be held from 24-30 October 2022.
