Celebrating the 53rd Anniversary, the Yapen Islands Exhibit Culture and Sports

goodmorningpapua.com – The celebration of the 53rd Anniversary of the Yapen Islands Regency which take place on March 6, 2022 will be packaged more simply by highlighting culture and sports.

A Chairman of the Committee for the 53rd Anniversary of the Yapen Islands, Edi Noca Mudumi, Friday, March 4, 2022, said that at least 20 activities including competitions to be held to celebrate the anniversary of the Yapen Islands.

A local acoustic competition, as well as a local songwriting competition are one of the competitions that will be held in welcoming the anniversary of the Yapen Islands Regency. Not only that, the Yospan Dance competition and creating local food menus will color Yapen’s anniversary.

“We want Yapen not to lose its cultural charm, we want to bring back a culture that we haven’t heard of for a long time, all the more Yapen has 7 tribes that are very famous in terms of culture,” said Edi Noca Mudumi who is also the Regent’s Expert Staff.

The contestant from the Peniel Group, Agus Dimara, suggested that the competition by promoting culture should continue to be held every year. This is intended so that the younger generation is more familiar with the culture.

“I think the committee has done very well in rising the culture at this anniversary (Yapen), but it’s still a shame that this young generation has not seen much in things like this. I hope that cultural performances and cultural competitions, especially music, will continue to be held,” he hoped.
