“West Papuan Catholic youth have a moral obligation to be involved and take role in socio-political life, the Church in Indonesia and especially, in West Papua,” said Yosepha, in his statement, Monday (27/9/2021).

Meanwhile, a Chairman of the Committee for the West Papua Catholic Youth Conference Aloysius Paulus Siep emphasized that this conference was important for the unity, solidarity and solidity of all elements of the organization or community of the Catholic Church in West Papua.

“With this unity of solidity, Catholic Youth and other Catholic communities can build one-of-a-kind communication, brotherhood across tribes, religions, cultures, even with the government in West Papua,” said Aloysius.

The West Papua Governor, Dominggus Mandacan, said that youth and the future are like ‘humans and air’, namely two things that cannot be separated because they have become the nature of the youth themselves who are often touted as the future, the nation’s buds, and the next generation. Because history has proven that young people take part in a series of nation-building efforts.

“I invite all young Catholics, especially those in regencies/cities throughout the province of West Papua, to be aware of their responsibilities as youth, to realize their vocation in the midst of the government, church and society to realize social justice, humanity and true brotherhood. in Papua,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bishop of Monokwari-Sorong Mgr. Hilarion Datus Lega explained about the theological-christological basis of Christian leaders; where God the Father is the ultimate leader of God the Son, the true leader. The leadership of Jesus Christ is diakonia (ministry) leadership, the leadership is essentially about serving.
