goodmorningpapua.com – The BI Representative Office for West Papua Province has prepared as many as IDR 1.59 trillion worth of money to meet people’s needs for the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year celebrations.
The head of the West Papua Bank Indonesia representative Rommy Sariu Tamawiwy explained that there was an increase in the amount of money at this year’s celebration compared to the previous year. “The economy in West Papua has started to revive, so we are making additions compared to the previous year,” said Rommy in Manokwari, Monday (26/12).
He said the increase was due to an increase in community activity with a decrease in active cases of COVID-19 in the West Papua region. Rommy explained that during the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year celebrations, BI prepared IDR 1.47 trillion. This figure will increase during the celebration of Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023. “For Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023 we are preparing IDR 1.59 trillion to cover the area, hopefully it can meet the needs of the people of West Papua,” he said.
To avoid high inflation, Bank Indonesia continues to voice wise spending to the public. “The key that must be held and always voiced by Bank Indonesia is so that people shop wisely, so that the level of consumption and savings is maintained,” said Rommy
Meanwhile, with the presence of the New Southwest Papua Province, Bank Indonesia West Papua will continue to carry out supervision as before.
“Our calculations are still West Papua Province, namely Manokwari Raya and Sorong Raya. Henceforth, Southwest Papua will still be within the scope of Bank Indonesia’s work for the West Papua region,” said Rommy.
