Befa Yigibalom: The Division of Papua is a Political Will of the State, Not the Interests of the Elite – A Head of the Association of Regents for the Central Highlands of Papua, Befa Yigibalom, affirmed that the presence of the forming of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) or the division of Papua was the will of the state, not the struggle of the elite.

“We’ve all said that the presence of this province is the political will of the state, not the struggle of the elite or anyone else, or the division team, no,” said Befa in Jayawijaya, Thursday, April 14, 2022.

As stated by Befa, the division has been regulated by the state, so the people should accept it and use it as well as possible for the benefit of the people in Papua.

“Where are we going indeed, we live on this earth, we live in this land and we live in this country, and let’s not forget that we are still governed by this country, so we accept what he does,” he said.

Befa also did not prohibit community groups from rejecting the division of Papua. However, he also request to follow the decision in the plenary session of the DPR RI.

“I already said, how long are the for and against in this country, the state if you want to give it, yes if there is a demonstration and the state feels there are many demonstrations, there are many against. Yes, if you want to refuse, then refuse, so we are all waiting. So if it comes, we will accept it differently,” he said.
