An Indonesian Legend of Women’s Basketball Jacklien Ibo Passes Away – A sad news came from the basketball world in the country. An Indonesian legend of women’s basketball, Jacklien Ibo, passed away on Thursday (17/3/2022).

Such thing was conveyed by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir. On his personal twitter @erickthohir, he uploaded a photo of himself and Jacklien having a conversation. However, the meeting turned out to be the last meeting between them.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. My deepest condolences on the death of Indonesian basketball hero, Jacklien Ibo,” wrote Erick Thohir, Thursday (17/3/2022).

“I don’t suspect that meeting to be the last. Goodbye, Jacklien,” he continued.

Jacklien had suffered from lung disease and was undergoing treatment at home due to financial constraints. As a result of her illness, Jacklien’s weight continued to decline.

During her lifetime, Jacklien was active in basketball and defended the Indonesian Women’s Basketball National Team in various events. Meanwhile, at the club level, Jacklien was one of the top players in the women’s basketball competition, which was then called WNBL.

In fact, Jacklien had become MVP in the 2012 WNBL. That thing made her enter the Indonesian Women’s Basketball National Team to appear at the 2012 SEA Games and managed to get silver.

With a height of 177 cm, Jacklien played in the position of power forward and achieved many achievements while playing in the WNBL. She was awarded the Sportsmanship Award, WNBL Defensive Player of the Year, Top Block, gave Top Rebound. Rest in peace, Jacklien.
