An Extreme Weather in Jayapura, 87 Percent of Grid Gets Restored

goodmorningpapua.com – PLN has accelerated the normalization of electricity supply to customers, after the extreme weather occurred Monday night, February 21, 2022 until early Tuesday, February 22, 2022 in Jayapura and its surroundings. A total of 39 officers were deployed and as of 14.30 WIT, 6 of the 8 feeders and 54 of the total 59 affected substations had been successfully restored.

A General Manager of PLN Main Unit for Papua and West Papua Region, Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin explained that his party is trying as much as possible to restore the electricity system in Jayapura and its surroundings.

“After conditions allowed, this morning we immediately started the recovery. The progress has reached 87 percent,” he said, Tuesday, February 22, 2022.

Andy added, a total of 1067 customers were affected by this condition. “Currently, we have turned on the electricity for 1,000 customers. On the network side, the other 5 substations are still in the process of being restored by our officers in the field. Some of them were hit by collapsed trees,” he added.

The following are the affected locations that are currently still being normalized by PLN officers. Location of Jayapura Regency: Depapre Village, Yepase Village, Yewena Village, Wambena Village and Dormena Village, Genyem City and its surroundings.

“We apologize for the inconvenience, for the time being we cannot turn on the electricity in these locations. We are trying to restore electricity supply for customers,” said Andy.

Meanwhile, Andy added that the power supply from the generator is in a safe condition. “Thank God!, for the generator in good condition. Please pray that our officers can complete network repairs quickly and electricity can recover soon, “he concluded.
