goodmorningpapua.com – The government’s urge to elect an acting governor in the 3 new autonomous regions (DOB) of Papua, led by indigenous Papuans, began to emerge. This time it was stated by the Chairperson of the Papuan Islamic Ulema Council (MUI).
A chairman of the Papuan MUI, KH Syaiful Islam Al Payage, reminded the government to prioritize the acting governor in the 3 new autonomous regions [DOB] for the best sons and daughters of Papua. Especially today that there are many indigenous Papuan children who are able to conduct the tasks assigned by the state.
The chairman of the Papuan MUI, KH Syaiful Islam Al Payage, requested the government not to use echelonization in the appointment of the acting governor of new autonomous regions.
“Echelonization limits the space for the best Papuan sons to be directly involved in leading the region, so that the goal of establishing the new autonomous regions can be achieved properly,” said Al Payage, Friday, November 4, 2022.
He gave an example of many indigenous Papuan children from academic circles deserving to be acting governors of the new autonomous regions. “Why academics? Because academics are decent, independent, neutral and have no political interests,” he said.
According to Payage, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, John Wempi Wetipo, who was entrusted with representing Papua, must fight for indigenous Papuan children to lead the region, so that the new autonomous regions are filled with Papuans.
“Not for reasons of echelonization, so that officials from the Ministry or the Director General are removed from serving as Acting Governors. I suggest Mr. President Jokowi to appoint gubernatorial officials in the 3 new autonomous regions, prioritizing native Papuan sons, because they are the ones who know the culture, regional characteristics, socio-politics, so that the new autonomous regions will not be a problem in the future,” he said.
