goodmorningpapua.com – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin received representatives from a number of figures in Papua, from the Deputy Governor of West Papua Muhammad Lakotani to the Papuan MUI board. They invoked Ma’ruf Amin to visit Papua.
“This morning at 10 o’clock, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin received an envoyes from Papua. So, the Deputy Governor of West Papua Mr. Lakotani along with 2 civilians from the West Papuan MUI and Papuan MUI administrators. Basically they really wanted to invite, they wanted to invite the vice president to come to Papua immediately,” said spokesman for the vice president Masduki Baidlowi in his statement, Monday (20/9/2021).
Masduki explained that Ma’ruf Amin had always wanted to visit Papua. However, said Masduki, this was hindered by various activities and the addition of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The vice president has indeed wanted and planned to visit and come to Papua several times, but due to recent activities, due to the COVID-19 condition, everything has become… the plan has been postponed to visit Papua,” he said.
The meeting lasted one hour. Vice President Ma’ruf Amin then agreed to immediately come to Papua while watching the PON event which will be held there.
“Earlier in the meeting for 1 hour, yes, the vice president agreed to come to Papua and this is indeed in accordane with the PON plan in Papua. God willing, the vice president will come to Papua, which has been designed to meet with a number of figures in Papua,” he said.
Masduki said that at the meeting, there were two approaches that Ma’ruf Amin emphasized for the Papuan people. First, it is related to the acceleration of Papua’s development which must be carried out immediately in line with the laws and regulations.
“The second is the dialogue approach, of course, this cultural approach is important, the cultural approach of all friends in Jakarta to take a cultural approach, namely accelerating development in Papua and dialogue or friendship with the Papuan people,” said Masduki.
Ma’ruf Amin, said Masduki, also conveyed the welfare approach and the dialogue approach. Not only that, Ma’ruf Amin also asked that the security approach that has been running so far be completed immediately.
“Those two things were affirmed by the vice president in the meeting. It doesn’t mean that the security approach is not important. I think the security approach has been running so far, it’s just a matter of how to complete it. So other approaches, especially the welfare approach and the dialogue approach. That’s what the vice president said, ” he said.
The representative from Papua also expressed his aspirations concerning the special institution to be formed under the leadership of Ma’ruf Amin. This aspiration, said Masduki, has been well documented to also draft a government regulation concept currently being arranged.
