goodmorningpapua.com – A chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Papua Province, Kyai Haji Syaiful Islam Al-Payage, appeals the public to stay away from alcohol in welcoming Christmas and New Year (Nataru) on the Cenderawasih land.
According to Syaiful, liquor is the main factor in cases of accidents and crimes in Papua. “Alcohol has a negative impact on society. It is mainly people consuming it ride vehicles, it can cause accidents,” said Syaiful, Thursday, December 2, 2021.
Syaiful also invokes the community to work together to maintain security and order in Papua in welcoming the month of love and the new year. He also appealed to the public not to be provoked by irresponsible issues or invitations aimed at making Papua unsecure.
“Who else if we ourselves don’t take care of it, because security is the most important thing. If the situation is secure, people can carry out their normal activities as usual. So, all elements of society, let’s keep the land of Papua safe,” said Syaiful.
Previously, the Papuan Police had named 8 suspects in the case of raising the Morning Star flag at the Cenderawasih Sports Hall, Jayapura City, Papua, Wednesday 1 December 2021.
The accuseds were suspected of raising the Morning Star as a form of commemorating the anniversary of the Free Papua Organization (OPM) every December 1.
