goodmorningpapua.com – A Deputy Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Jhon Wempi Wetipo visited the Tomb of Abel Melkias Suwae, the former Jayapura Regent for the 2001-2011 period.
Apart from doing a grave pilgrimage, Wempi Wetipo also held Christmas together with the Red House volunteers and residents around Tablanusu Village, Jayapura Regency, on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.
To reporters, Wempi Wetipo had time to reveal unforgettable memories with the late HMS, the nickname of Abel Melkias Suwae, during the 2018 Papuan gubernatorial election.
“I came here to sow flowers for the late HMS, because I and he were partners in the 2018 Papuan governor election process. His togetherness during his life was a remarkable thing,” admitted Wempi Wetipo.
Wempi Wetipo also told the story of the journey of the late HMS who had served as an expert staff in the previous ministry passed away. “(So) after I went to Jakarta and he (HMS) also followed, wherein he became an Expert Staff at the ministry, but in the middle of the course God had other plans,” he said.
For him, this is the right moment to get together with the Red House volunteers who have fought together. “So this activity is to commemorate our togetherness. This is a good step for us to make a relationship together, especially with the family here,” he said.
Wempi Wetipo emphasized that his arrival to Tablanusu was purely from the bottom of his heart to make friendship at the end of the year. It was wrong, in his opinion, if there were parties considering it as a political move.
“If someone considers it as politics, this is not the place. It is purely a visit of compassion in the brotherhood, because friendship with the relatives of the late HMS is good,” he explained.
Asked about his intention to run for the 2024 governor election, Wempi Wetipo admitted that he had not been able to determine. He also said that he still wants to carry out his activities as usual, both in the government field and in the politics one.
“I am a political person, the chairman of the PDIP Papua, but because I was given the trust as the Deputy Minister of PUPR, so that both are running like the streaming water, we just walk first. I have not yet wanted to confirm it. However, we will make a big event in 2022, but what activities will be, we will see later,” he concluded.
