A Cross-Sector Coordination Meeting in Jakarta, a Governor Presents West Papua RT-RW Ideas

goodmorningpapua.com – A Directorate General of Spatial Planning of the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/BPN held a cross-sector coordination meeting at the Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta, Monday 6 December 2021.

The meeting chaired by the Acting Director General of Spatial Planning at the Ministry of ATR/BPN Abdul Kamarzuli. One of the agenda items discussed was the regional regulation plan (Raperda) for the West Papua Province Spatial Planning (RT-RW).

At the Coordination Meeting, the Governor of West Papua, Dominggus Mandacan, was also present along with Deputy Chair III of the DPR for West Papua, Jongky R. Fonataba, the Regional Secretary, Nataniel D. Mandacan, and the Regent of Manokwari Hermus Indou and the Regional Secretary for Tambrauw Engel Kocu.

The Governor of West Papua Dominggus Mandacan in his presentation said that the regional spatial plan has been started from 2018 to 2021, with public consultations twice, 2 FGDs with regencies/cities.

The West Papua Provincial Government has also held discussions with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry as required in the procedure for submitting the substance of the Provincial RT-RW. Likewise the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries to integrate the RZWP-3-K into the RTRW of West Papua Province in 2021-2041.

The purpose of the RTRW, continued Dominggus, is to realize West Papua as a supporter of an advanced and competitive national economy by prioritizing the preservation of land and sea areas according to local wisdom values ​​in a safe, comfortable and sustainable manner.

To achieve this goal, the Government of West Papua has prepared strategic and policy directions. First, continuing to synergize in developing a spatial structure that is in line with the national spatial plan.

Second, continuing to synergize to develop activity centers as a supporter of the national economy in accordance with the potential of land and sea. Third, continuing to synergize in the development of national energy and tourism centers. Fourth, synergizing in providing land to support food security.

Fifth, synergizing in regional management by caring to local wisdom. Sixth, synergizing in area management by caring to mitigation and disaster aspects. Seventh, synergizing in improving the state’s defense and security functions.

On that occasion, Dominggus also conveyed an overview of West Papua, strategic issues, the integration of the RZWP-3-K into the RTRW of West Papua and the area for sustainable development.

Dominggus hopes that this cross-sectoral forum will soon issue a substantive agreement on the West Papua Spatial Plan to be followed up into a Regional Regulation.
