76 Houses for Sentani Flood Victims to be Accomplished in August 2022

goodmorningpapua.com – A total of 76 housing units assisted by the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) for victims of the Sentani flash flood are targeted to be completed in August 2022.

A Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini when inspecting the construction of healthy houses for victims of the Sentani flash flood in Doyo Baru, Waibu District, Kab. Jayapura, Wednesday, March 23, 2022, explained that currently 21 of the 76 houses built for the victims of the banjir bandang have been completed.

“We hope that the rest can be completed on August 17 and can be inhabited by victims of the Sentani flash flood,” she explained.

Construction of houses for victims of flash floods to relocate residents to safer places by cooperating with the Jayapura Regency government.

In addition to housing, said the Minister of Social Affairs, each house is also equipped with facilities for trade and livestock businesses, in order to support the needs of people’s lives.

“Citizens from refugee camps will be placed here. New places supported by adequate housing facilities are also provided for places of business in the form of trade and livestock,” she said.

A Minister of Social Affairs Risma said, housing development was fully financed from the Ministry of Social’s budget by taking into account the local customs and wisdom of the local community which is different from other places in Papua.

“Obviously it’s different, like with Sarmi’s location. This is real for society. I do not want and cannot be equated, I have to know what the solution is because it cannot be equated from one place to another even though both are in Papua,” said the Minister of Social Affairs.

Risma said that in the stage of handing over the house, there is still some work to be done in the form of land that has been divided up on behalf of each recipient, per family, because initially the land was still one. “The acceleration is carried out by breaking up the names of each recipient. I have communicated with the Minister of ATR/BPN and he is ready to help. Later in August, residents will be able to receive keys and land certificates,” said the Minister of Social Affairs.
