goodmorningpapua.com – A total of 5,000 Asmat students received scholarship assistance from the Regional Government distributed from 2019 to 2022.
Asmat Regent, Elisa Kambu, explained that thousands of these students are holders of Smart Asmat Cards (KAP) scattered in all Indonesian study cities. He also dismissed allegations that scholarships had not been distributed to students yet.
“It is not true that we have not distributed scholarship aid yet. We have distributed it as of 2019-2022,” said the Asmat Regent, Elisa Kambu when he heard the complaints of a number of students some time ago.
According to Elisa Kambu, the government’s scholarship aid will automatically go into student accounts through Bank Papua. “Students who hold KAP will automatically get their money directly into their account. So if you say it hasn’t been distributed, it’s not true,” he said.
Elisa Kambu supposed that students who have not received scholarships yet from the local government are new students or students who register to coincide with the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Indeed, there are around 700 students in study cities such as Merauke, Jayapura City and other cities in Papua that have not been distributed, because they are still in the post-Covid-19 financial administration process. However, the process has been completed and this month it can be distributed,” he explained.
He added that the scholarship distribution process will be carried out in stages twice a year. The recipients of the scholarship assistance are students from Asmat who hold the Smart Asmat Card (KAP) issued through Bank Papua.
“In principle, the local government provides the fees through Bank Papua. Students who are registered will take KAP at Bank Papua. The aid will automatically go into their respective accounts,” said Elisa Kambu.
