goodmorningpapua.com – A total of 3,219 Papuan children were recorded to be studying with the funding from the Yayasan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Amungme dan Kamoro/Empowerment Foundation for Community of Amungme and Kamoro (YPMAK) as the administrator of PT Freeport Indonesia’s partnership fund.
This number is data recorded as of December 2021. Up to now, YPMAK continues to evaluate student data with 21 partners or educational institutions.
“We have 3,000 scholarship participants, currently we are evaluating the data available from partners,” said YPMAK Director, Febian Magal when interviewed in his office, Thursday (14/4/2022).
The more than 3,000 students who are currently studying are divided into three sections, including scholarship recipients outside Timika, focused dormitories and educational support in Mimika.
For the scholarship recipient program, as many as 944 children as recipients of scholarships studied in partnership institutions with 699 children and 275 children in public institutions.
In supporting the hostels owned by YPMAK and other parties according to the YPMAK hostel guidebook, as many as 1,628 children also received scholarships with a dormitory-style education program for elementary, middle and high school children Amungme, Kamoro in Mimika Regency, namely the Papuan Taruna Dormitory and the Diocese of the Diocese. .
To support study funding for Amungme and Kamoro students at the undergraduate level in Mimika Regency, YPMAK also provided scholarships to as many as 647 children.
In 2021, there will be 21 scholarship recipients who have been terminated at the tertiary level outside Timika.
Even so, there are also 32 children who have graduated from college in 2021 and 104 children are also recorded as graduating from the junior high and high school levels.
In addition, 40 children living in the dormitories also graduated from elementary and junior high schools. So a total of 176 children have completed their education at each level.
Based on reports from YPMAK partners, it is estimated that 100 students will graduate or pass the tertiary level study period in 2022.
