goodmorningpapua.com – There is good news coming from Papua, two new campuses of national standard will soon be founded and operating in this Cenderawasih Earth. The both of campuses are Campus II of Cenderawasih University, a Faculty of Marine Affairs and Fisheries in Yapen Islands Regency (Coastal Region), and Campus of Okmin University, in Oxibil Regency (Mountain Region).
In his speech at the commemoration ceremony on August 17, 2021, President Joko Widodo stated two things, namely a commitment to develop the Land of Papua through increasing the Special Autonomy Fund for Papua to 2.25 percent and improving the governance of Otsus. The second is to focus on improving the quality of human resources, to encourage accelerated development.
The Jokowi’s Special Staff, Billy Mambrasar, explained that the interest of Papuan youth to pursue the higher education did not regress, either through other programs such as the Special Autonomy Scholarship through BPSDM, both at home and abroad. Affirmation of Higher Education (ADIK), including the high interest in studying at local campuses in Papua and West Papua.
Billy also said that the development action plan focuses on improving the quality of health services, accessibility of education, and accelerating economic development.
On June 29, 2021, the inauguration of Campus II Uncen consisting of the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Sciences, which was attended by the Special Staff of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Billy Mambrasar, Kemendikbud Dikti RI, Chancellor of Uncen, Chair of the MRP, and a Head of the Papua Province Education Office.
At the same time, a new campus apart from Cenderawasih University, namely Okmin University in Oxibil Regency, stands on an area of 10 hectares, from the target campus area of 100 hectares.
