goodmorningpapua.com – A total of 1,155 prisoners or inmates in prison (WBP) in Papua received Christmas remission. Six recipients of the remission were immediately released. “In 2021 only six will get remission and are immediately released,” said a Head of the Papuan Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) Office, Anthonius Mathius Ayorbaba, Saturday (12/25/2021).
Ayorbaba said that the recipients of general remission 1 (RU1) and the unreleased are 1,139. Three of them are corruption convicts who received two months remission. According to Ayorbaba, the granting of remissions is not only based on statutory regulations, but also because of the correctional institution’s assessment of the inmates who are considered to be of good behavior.
The inmates who received remissions were spread over 319 people in Abepura Prison, Doyo Narcotics Prison, Jayapura Regency 204 people, Merauke Class II B Prison 181 people, Timika Prison 88 people, Biak Prison 97 people, Nabire Prison 99 people, Wamena Prison 37 people, and 80 people in Serui Prison. Then the Tanah Merah Prison as many as 28 people, the Arso women’s prison 17 people and the special child development institution in Arso as many as 5 people.
