goodmorningpapua.com – A Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Jhon Wempi Wetipo along with a number of youths dived and raised the red and white flag at the bottom of the Papua Sea, Friday (20/10). The dives and flag-raising were conducted in commemoration of the Youth Pledge Day, October 28, 2022.
The dive point is centered in the waters of Tanjung Kayu Batu, Jayapura City, Papua. Jhon Wempi Wetipo dives to a depth of 20 meters.
After raising the flag, Jhon Wempi Wetipo said that the commemoration of the 2022 Youth Pledge by raising the red and white flag on the seabed was carried out so that young people in Papua were imprinted to love differences in Indonesia, while preserving nature.
“In Papua, talking about the sea, the sea is beautiful, beautiful and charming, feel free to dive in and see for yourself,” said Jhon Wempi Wetipo.
He advised that young people in Papua can also participate in preserving the underwater world in Papua. The younger generation is asked to continue to do good, and not to be easily provoked and provoked into movements that are contrary to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
“This is the era of digitalization, youth must be able to play an active role in technological progress, for positive things, so that they no longer think old-fashioned, which is also difficult for themselves,” said Jhon Wempi Wetipo.
Wempi also hopes that Papuan youths will continue to develop themselves with knowledge and willing to work hard. “There is already a new autonomous region, Papua has now become three provinces and a lot of new workers will be needed. Papuan youth must be able to fill that need, don’t lose to the young people outside there,” he urged.
According to Wempi, it is time for young people in Papua to be the head, not the tail. He hopes that the young generation of Papua can unite with all components of the nation’s children, to jointly develop Papua and Indonesia.
“The theme of this year’s Youth Pledge is ‘United to Build the Nation’, it must start from Merauke to Sabang. No longer from Sabang to Merauke. Because the sun rises from Merauke first and then to Sabang. Therefore, I hope Papuan youth can rise up and become leaders to unite and build the Indonesian nation,” concluded Wempi.
The raising of the red and white flag on the Papuan seabed involved divers from the Papua Regional Police Polairud, Lantamal X Jayapura, and the diving community in Jayapura City.
